NRA & Pathfinder Pistol Courses
Pathfinders Basic Pistol Course:
Pathfinders will continue to conduct our traditional pistol training course. The course is a 5 hour basic pistol course. It will include 3 hours of classroom training and 2 hours on the range. The student will need a pistol and 30 rounds of ammunition. The course does not have a testing component. The student must demonstrate to the instructor the proper skills, knowledge, and attitude to safely load, unload, cock, de-cock, and shoot a handgun. The cost is $75.00 and will cover most, but not all, of what the NRA Basic Pistol Course currently covers. You will receive a Pathfinders Course Completion Certificate that can be used to apply for a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit. Classes are usually on a Saturday and start at 9am and end at approximately 2:30pm.
The NRA Basic Pistol Course:
This course comes with a high quality text book, brochures, a certificate and other materials. This course is an 8 hour comprehensive course. It will include 6 hours of classroom training and two hours on the range. The student will need a pistol and 100 rounds of ammunition. The course has both a written exam and a shooting score requirement. The cost of this course is $100.00 per student. This course can be used as the training requirement to apply for a Virginia Concealed Carry Permit. Students will meet on two consecutive nights for 3 hours each and on a Saturday for range operations. Note: This course is designed for those who have little to no handgun experience. If you have 5 friends that want to take the course, we will work with you to set up a private class on a date that is convenient to your group.
Both classes can be used as the training requirement for the Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.
If you have any questions about the NRA or Pathfinder Courses, please contact Pathfinders and we will be happy to help you.
Remember: The NRA class will need 5 participants to be conducted; the Pathfinders class will need at least 3 participants. Please check back to the web site a week prior to the class to see if the class has been moved or Canceled.
